Michael T. Blair, CPA, CFP
Michael was born and raised in Martinsburg, West Virginia and grew up on the family orchard known as Rosemary Orchards. After completing high school, Michael attended West Virginia University from 1980–1984, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. After college, Michael gained valuable experience working for several large local Certified Public Accounting firms in the Mid- Atlantic Area. In 1988, Michael received his Certified Public Accountant certificate. Armed with his CPA license and more than ten years of work experience in the accounting field, Michael opened his own practice in 1994. Since 1997, his practice has focused on serving the financial needs of small business clients and individuals primarily based in Carroll County.
Ellen Dorenfeld
Ellen was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. She attended the University of Baltimore where she received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Her first professional accounting experience was launched at Naden-Lean, LLC in Timonium, Maryland. In addition to raising two daughters, and owning and operating All Trade Enterprises, Inc., with her husband, Joe, Ellen continued to work in the public accounting profession developing her accounting skills. Her role as Chief Financial Officer in her own small business combined with the experience that she gained working at a variety of public accounting firms have proven to be valuable assets. Ellen's extensive accounting experience allows her to provide her clients with excellent, professional service. Ellen joined Blair & Associates in September 2011. She brings a wealth of knowledge in tax, accounting and business consulting services to the firm.
Diane M. Bixler, Executive Assistant
Diane was born and raised in Carroll County, Maryland. Her education focused on business administration and customer service. She was employed at London Fog for 20 years. In her role there as a senior account executive, she managed the company’s largest account until the business operations were moved to Seattle, Washington. For 10 years prior to working for Blair, she and her husband ran their own successful heating & cooling company. In 2001, Diane joined Michael as his office manager. In her spare time, Diane enjoys reading and spending time with her husband, John.
Sue Tarrant, Bookkeeper
Susan Tarrant was born and raised in Sykesville, Maryland. After completing high school, she traveled with her Air Force husband for eight years. She remained a homemaker until their two children completed elementary school. She volunteered in the school system and was a substitute teacher in the 1980’s. Her involvement in the school system, introduced her to the many uses of computer programs. In 1996, Sue began working for Blair & Associates, Inc. part time, as a copy person and file clerk. Over the last 15 years, she has gained experience in data entry, payrolls, payroll returns, etc. Her active roles as treasurer of the Sykesville Volunteer Fire Department and president of the auxiliary preclude her from working full time.
